The platform technology of metabonomics provides an opportunity to develop novel non-invasive biomarkers of liver fibrosis. This research is a collaboration between Nottingham, Southampton and Imperial College London. In patients undergoing liver biopsy we are collecting blood tests to determine if low molecular weight metabolites can predict the degree of liver scarring.
