Assessing Nutrition Through Observation (ANTO Study)

11th August 2015 - ongoing

Status: In Recruitment

Specialism: Liver.

1) The purpose of this study is to measure body composition before and after nutritional interventions

2) To assess diet intake and quality of life

3) to detect bone density defects due to impaired liver functions.

Several studies demonstrate that malnutrition in patients suffering with cirrhosis of the liver is a major problem and in spite of the well-known effects on people’s health due to malnutrition in liver disease, it remains underdiagnosed and undertreated in clinical practice. Appropriate nutritional assessment for this group of patients needs to be investigated in order to identify those who require nutritional interventions.
